Something linked to the main account that you can switch to without changing log ins. Ideally a drop down list or something on the reply page so you could just select with account/alias to reply with. ^^
So for example if you have a RP forum where people have multiple characters they could have a main ooc account and then a subaccount for each character. These could either be fully featured accounts linked to the main one, or just little part featured accounts (different name/avatar/signature/profile).

The new global system allows you to this already, but each member has their own full proifle and forum account. You can switch between accounts in 2 clicks from anywhere.
It would be redundant to create an additional system where you have sub-accounts within each forum account. Currently you have forum accounts in each global account. Which in essence is exactly the same thing. The only difference I can see is the request for a drop down that appear on the posting page. The forum can't interact with the global network like that. So you would still need to click the PBN bar in the bottom right to swap characters instead. The ability to switch RP characters (with different name/avatar/signature/profile) in seconds from anywhere on the forum already exists.

I watched the global accounts video and am confused again. Sorry.
The global account doesn't seem to be a member of any forum, so we'd need everyone to set up OoC accounts as it were, but then we couldn't have other accounts under this OoC account we'd have to have them under the global account? Is there cross talk between these forum accounts? (e.g. Could I switch from Character A to Character B without going through the global account? if I wanted to post in the same thread with one and then directly with the next?)
And on a randon slightly unrelated note: Will it be possible to turn off receiving PM's for some accounts/membergroups?

That's what I was explaining to you. You cant pick who you are posting as on the posting page. But in 2 clicks you can be another account. So it's really not that much different. This is leaps and bounds above what v4 can do right now. What you want isn't possible (to the degree you want it). The functionality is essentially the same though. Multiple accounts tied to a single login and the ability to switch between those accounts at a moments notice.
You can ignore members in the Privacy Tab of your Edit Profile. You can choose to not receive PMs from people.

Okay so I'd have to post as Character A, two clicks to change account and get back to forum, and then find the thread again to post as Character B? I know it's miles ahead of what V4 can do but I'm interested in how it compares to things like SMF and Jcink which have a subaccount system rather than a global login system. Not how it compares to V4 So would you have to add each new memeber to each account as they joined? Or is there an 'ignore everyone' option? Would the ignored members know they were being ignored (thus a gentle reminder to PM an OoC account) or would the PM's vanish into thin air? In all this I'm just curious how it will work I appreciate you taking the time to answer my questions.

Maiden, in v5 I use browser history to quickly find where I was with the first persona. It is pretty fast.

In all this I'm just curious how it will work I appreciate you taking the time to answer my questions. I am not familiar with SMF and Jcink (never even heard of them). I can only tell you how it works. In 2 clicks you can be any account you want. That seems pretty fast and simple to me. You also want the accounts tied to a single login. Done. If you want to post as multiple accounts there isn't going to be an easier way than this and still have fully separate profiles/usernames/etc. There is no ignore everyone option. Not sure why you'd want to be on a forum and ignore everyone to begin with? You can go see how it works on v5.proboards.com go to Edit Profile and click to the Privacy tab. Try searching my name. You'll be given options for how to block me. You would need to do this with everyone you wanted blocked. Depending on the options you select you wont see posts by me, you wont receive PMs from, etc. If you want multiple accounts and want to block everyone else have you considered starting a new forum and only having your accounts on it?

Hi Ryan, Thanks, we've got out test conversion now (much faster than I expected and the conversion took minutes! very impressed) so I'm going to get people to upgrade their accounts and have a play with it to see if we want to try and go with the multiple accounts thing I agree, two clicks is easy. I was just trying to understand fully thank you. The reason for ignoring everyone via PM is that if we wanted to try an IC and OoC account system (we're an RP forum) it's less confusing if IC accounts just couldn;t be PM'ed (essentially we just want them as posting fronts for prettyness' sake - which I think is a fairly niche want) as then there's no risk of people missing PM's. It's not critical I was just curious.
