ACP: Make it clear when no perms

So, I was trying to add a custom page using my cddude229 account which had full perms on the old system. By default, I didn't have the ability to create custom pages. (Cool, completely understandable why.)

However, nowhere did it say "you don't have perms" until I actually tried to edit the URL to the right place. In fact, I went to Structure and saw the description say "categories and boards, headers and footers, custom pages, and templates." yet I saw no option for custom pages... maybe you could show the panel icon, but have it grayed out? that way a user knows what's wrong and doesn't just assume he isn't looking in the right place.

We actually just discussed giving members who have H&F control Custom Page control on conversion. I need to speak to Martyn in a little while about updating this. That would solve your problem above.

Ryan: the other issue it says "you can modify custom pages here!" and then provides no links to do so. False advertisement. That's my main concern there.

I think I'm confused as to what you're explaining.

That link does NOT exist if I don't have perms. My suggestion is show a greyed out image saying I don't have access on this account. The description classifying "custom pages" does still say that, without any link.

Does that make more sense?

I think Chris is referring to the description on the admin home page, not within the structure category.

We'll need to come up with something. The text isn't going to be dynamic based on your individual permissions. Conversely we don't necessarily want to show all the areas a member doesn't have access to (even grayed out). The descriptions are designed to explain each area with some level of detail. We thought it should be assumed that if you don't see the custom pages area (for example) then you would figure out you don't have access to that area. I see your confusion now. We'll need to discuss a solution.
