[Plug-in request] Shoutbox sound

[Pebble]

This is very much an Alpha release.

Here's the plugin: Shoutbox Sound (Alpha) 0.1.2

But you need to do some work!

You need to find somewhere to host two files or somewhere that will allow you to hotlink to them.
This will work for modern browsers only. ie: IE9+ , FF, Chrome + others that support HTML5.

For IE: you need an .mp3 file. example: yourhost.mp3
For FF and Chrome you need a .ogg file example yourhost.ogg

A demo will appear here soon: #######

And here it is: 3testiodpebble.freemessageboards.com/ at the bottom of the screen and it should be open for guests to post.

(If any other coders on here who are familiar with ajax calls and HTML5 sound would like to offer some comments on the code I'll be happy to PM it to them as this is my first time I've dealt with sound( I usually hate sound but this I like) and pretty new to ajax calls. Send me a PM )

I was going to try this, but the sound file is ultimately what stopped me from trying. Glad you did it though.

Yep, I know what you mean. It took me as long to find the sound files and a host as it did to write the code!

That's good work! But I think I will decline, as I need things to be made as easy as possible for me what with having no idea about codes or plug ins at all. Hope a lot of people get good use out of this however.

I've actually bookmarked the other link you gave us Pebble. I tested it on your site and I quite like the idea of having the sound option. So as I said in your chat box LOL when I have less work to do on my own V5 site to get it ready, then I may see about it, especially since you have gone to the trouble of finding share sites etc., curious however, would tinypic be an option to host the sound do you know? I have a video hosted there.

I've actually bookmarked the other link you gave us Pebble. I tested it on your site and I quite like the idea of having the sound option. No, unfortunately! Photobucket and tiny pic wont host these files. Fileden is the same sort of thing but for any file types.
When I went to fileden I found that I already had an account that I hadn't logged into for more than a year (I actually didn't remember making an account there!) so there doesn't seem to be a problem of account being locked/deleted if you don't use them that some other sites do.

Okay then, that's cool thanks for letting me know. I will be sure to join that fileden then when I'm ready to get the sound for the shoutbox. I do have to ask, what is a ogg file? I haven't heard of that. Lol
