Could someone possibly make A plugin that auto-selects to enable the options in a user's settings page in their profile, so that when a new member registers they don't have to go in and enable things like viewing signatures, drafts and smileys in threads?
A lot of my members and staff don't like change too much, and since this is a huge change I would like to take care of little things like this so that it will be less overwhelming for them.

Only issue I see with this, is what about those members that don't want those options set?
Everytime they edit their profile, the options would get selected automatically, which might not be what they want. Granted, you could get a plugin that uses a key to see if it's their first time editing their profile, but that's overkill.

The options in the settings section are things that are automatically used in V4.5 anyways, such as viewing signatures in posts and a default for enabling smiles in posts, so I feel like most people wouldn't be bothered by it whereas they would be annoyed if they had to go into all of their accounts and change the settings. The other two things are participating in and enabling drafts, which is very useful for people who lose their posts a lot due to computer issues (which is a huge problem on my forum), so I know that a majority of my members would enable these features automatically, so it would save time and be more convenient.
I think that it would be a good idea to incorporate the key to see if its their first time editing their profile, because then it won't become a problem and if they want to disable the options they can go in and delete them.

RP Forums would be ALL over this plugin since they use signatures and most of these things anyway. So as an RP admin I see this being a useful plugin.

It would still require a member to go into their profile. you wouldnt be able to modify their profile from just any page.

I'm afraid I'm a bit confused. So you're saying there isn't a way to auto-enable certain things in a members profile when they register so that they don't have to go in and change it? I just don't understand why Proboards would hide signatures as a default, it's going irk my members and they're already overwhelmed as it is about all of the new features.

what I am saying is that a plugin cant make modifications to a profile without going to the edit profile page first and THEN a submit event happening.
maybe put a thread in the suggestions board that the signatures thing be an option the admin can set
