I think you should be able to make someone only have powers in ONLY certain categories or boards. Also, I think you should be able to make an account appear to be a normal player, but they can be a certain member group, instead of making the link color the same as the secret group and making the secret group "New Member" and making the member group not staff. That's the only way to make a secret Admin/Mod.

You can already do both of these.
You can make someones powers only active on certain boards. Set their powers to Limited, then you have to set them as a moderator on the board in question.
If you don't want a group to have a color, go to the Member Groups page and click the "X" next to the color. It will then be set to no color.
