WELCOME PM TO NEW MEMBERS

This might be a long shot, but on the current v4 board we had some coding that sent out a PM to all new members. This was taken from a hidden thread within the board.

It would be awesome to still have the facility to send this out as it contained some important information about the board etc.

What you could do. Is set a custom page to show after registration. And on that custom page have all that important info. An example of how I did it. I put a welcome message on it, and the rules of the forum. Ad before they could do anything, thy have to agree to the rules. And it shows right after registration, so that all new members see it. Would something like this work for you?

Are you just wanting a submit button, or anything else? Explain exactly what you want so I can get it for you!

Here's the URL to the forum I have my example set up on. zssv5board.freemessageboards.com sign up and the the page right after registration. Is that something like what you are looking for?

Hey, love what you have on your board, and that IS something we're interested in. However, we currently have Restrict Registration enabled and would like to keep it that way. Is there a way around this so that they have to read the T&C's etc and click 'I Agree' with restricted reg?

Um. I just tested it. And it doesn't take you to that page after registration. I would suggest you making this a feature request.

Does it really? I tried it and it didn't. Hmm. Odd. Maybe I should try it out on my newest converted forum.  But anyways thats awesome!!! Glad it works! Saves you the trouble of finding a plugin.

There are a few ways this can be done.

- Change all URLs for the first time to goto a thread / custom page.
- Create a fake PM that shows only once but acts like a normal PM.

Really depends on what you want.

Just out of curiousity, how do you do the second point?

Ideally you would need a coder to create a plugin for you where you can customise the message. Unfortunately I'm working right now so haven't got time, hopefully someone else will see this thread.
