I hate when half the people at a forum post with a www. link and half don't so you're not logged in at the other. Is there a way to make the www. redirect to the one without or vice versa?

Can you please explain in more detail what it is you're asking for. I'm having a lot of trouble understanding your request.

www.support.proboards.com doesn't work. The correct URL is support.proboards.comWe don't need to worry about supporting the cookie issue since people need to use the correct URL format to reach a forum. Placing www. in front of a subdomain is wrong.

Maybe a broad www. redirect then to without it? People have been advertising their site with www.theirname.proboards.com for a long time. You can find it all over ProBoards of everyone adding it to the front of their domains for some reason. For example in your latest advertisement thread: support.proboards.com/thread/434628/ two domains use www.

Proper web standards are to not place www. in front of subdomains. People need to learn to do things properly. There have been other features in v5 that we have adhered to web standards in order to teach people, like closing BBCode tags in the correct order.
However we will discuss this further internally.

Regardless of being the wrong way to do things, people will still do it. I think a subtle redirect would be the best way to show them the correct URL (if it can be done without too much web load).
Glad to see this will be discussed.

It's on my list for our meeting today. I'll keep you posted.
EDIT: Update. We do actually support www. before subdomains on every forum except Support. It is technically wrong and people should stop. But it will be supported anyway. Addressing the initial problem stated at the beginning of this thread. That is fixed in v5. Things don't work the same way and there should be no issues between www. and just the subdomain.
