I could see a new member or a member that does not use the internet very much being very overwhelmed with the search system. It has 20 options! Maybe add a "basic" version that is easier to use. I regular search system is no more than a box and a submit button.

Search system can be as easy or complex as you want, you don't have to fill in all the boxes, just the first one will work, but you have options to narrow the search, i think even a newbie has experienced search narrowing or filtering somewhere on the net, google already does it for example

I agree with patrick. Those options aren't compulsory, and they're very clearly laid out to be straightforward if you do need any of them.
If it's absolutely necessary, though, you might request a plugin that will hide fields to your preference and have them shown only on demand.

As Patrick [ASE] and snap2000 said the search is laid out pretty straight forward. We spent a lot of time trying to clearly label each of the options. And we really tried to make the search results clear by adding the new Smart Sentence. You can read exactly what you're searching before you search it. For a simple search (by board) you could use the small searches that appear in the corner. We will discuss this further though. Thanks for the idea.

The Smart Sentence is the dynamic sentence at the bottom of the search page that tells you exactly what you're searching before you search it. That way it is absolutely clear as to what will be queried. The Smart Sentence also exist at the bottom of posting pages to tell you what effects are being applied to the post. We invented it so you would know exactly what was happening when you pressed the nearby button. Certain areas have lots of options. In those places we felt we should clarify what would be happening.
