If you mean to allow PM with the gear sign, you can already do that, click the gear sign put you're cursor over member and you'll see "Send Message".

I read this as...
The ability to send a copy of the post reply as a PM as well. The subject of the thread would become the subject of the PM.
My big question is, who is the recipient? Why are they receiving an out of context post as a PM? If I look at nearly any reply from any thread and add the thread title as it's subject and pretend it's a PM not one of them has made any sense to me.
If you want to notify someone of a post or part of a conversation that they should be viewing then you can simply tag them. If you really wanted to you could PM them a link to the thread.
I don't think we're going to implement this. But thank you for the idea.

Well I'm always seeing staff say if you have a disagreement it take it to PMs. So which is why I think being able to select an action that takes that quoted post into a private PM conversation would be useful. The PM subject would stay the same as the thread title eg: Re: I like Apples So it would be between who ever you quoted the post and yourself.

Yeah, we don't think that warrants a new feature to be added to the existing software. People can still move to a PM conversation if they need to. You don't need to do so from the thread itself. Thanks for the suggestion though.
