Help! Code to plugin

Hey,
I have finally got the time to really go through the beta and try out the features. So, with the appearance of my forum not looking as it used to because of the codes no longer working, and also my member's inventories etc aren't working either, I've been searching for how to make plugins for them.

I am having a major stress-attack here. I can't for the life of me work out how to do this! I have a bunch of codes, and turning those codes into a plugin seems impossible, frustrating, and yet something I have to work out before my forum is changed to v5. I love the idea, just can't get my head around how I am supposed to do this.

Is there anyone that can help with maybe a step-by-step guide explaining how to turn a code (for example, my inventory code which I have in place on my original forum haurpg.proboards.com/index.cgi?) into a plugin? I don't know if it's just me, or whatever, but it just won't work and I can't understand what sections are for what and how to control what the plugin does and so on. I've tried various ways and no matter what I do the plugin/s won't show up or work.

it isnt as easy as you think. there is so much different now as to how a page is built, you cant just switch "a" with "b". many codes are in the process of being converted, and the original authors might be already working on it.

I know, I actually don't think it's easy at all. I have no clue where to start and what to do with the codes my site relies heavily on once the conversion happens. Some of the original author's of some of the codes I use were made by people who are no longer reachable, or have even passed away.

I was hoping, since people have talked so much about turning their codes into plugins, if someone could tell me how one even does that. Do the codes have to be converted, or is there something I can do? That's what I wanted to know, what the options are and how anyone is able to create a plugin from a code because I'm completely at loss. People say the plugins are easier, but it makes little sense to me and I've been trying to work it out for days but there is no details to help explain how it works.

The turning of a code into a plugin normally consists of re-writing the entire code. V5 changed the layout almost 100% so you have to use whole new lines to grab whole new information. Not to mention proboards is still working n giving us all the info we need so we can re-write many of these codes...

You might be able to go to the "Request a Plugin" board and ask for help with making a plugin or plugins using your code. Just a thought!

At least I'm not the only one having trouble, then. Hmm, well I hope more will be done so people can do that.
