I have the Color Smear plug in on my forum, and it is working fine for all members apart from one hitch, I am trying to add a new member and assign them a color, when I am asked to enter their username, it is not being recognised. The problem doesn't seem to be the plug in itself, just that the member is not showing up as recognised. I have added color for another member today and that worked fine, so maybe some hitch with this new users account? Help!

thats part of the search server problem they have been taking about in the support boards. I hav eheard you can just type out the whole username and saving and it might work. or you can try searching by display name and see if it finds them.

otherwise you might have to ask in support the status of the search server

Yes it is indeed a search server problem, I see they are working on it, so hopefully resolved soon Thanks Wormopolis. Love the Color Smear and my members do too

But sadly am limited to only a few options right now because of search being down.

Wormopolis Would you consider making member ranks/groups as part of the options to smear?

for clarification: the displayname based on the group OR the group name itself in the MP?

I wouldn't quibble with both ~ but the group name if I only get one!

ok display names based on groups is in library now.

my problem with groups/ranks is ranks arent a selectable option like groups are in the autoforms. that and since they can appear anywhere in the mini-profile instead of just under the name, I cant reliably search for them.

so at that point, unless you want to have different colors for different ranks/groups you might as well use the CSS smear option and put smear tags around the title in the template.
