Trying to find someone in the members list is like trying to find a needle in a haystack - nearly impossible - IF they don't fall into one of the categories on the drop down menu...

Is there anyway we can have the "View by Letter" back in the Members Lists please... it is taking an age to find anyone on my Beta forum and the list starts with Z and goes to A...it is pure guess work where to start looking!!??

Search helps when you know the name of course..just not on Support as there are too many names to go through...

Perhaps a "starts with" and "ends with" filter? Then you could input more than one letter if you'd like, too.

Support currently has 184,712 members.

If we assume that people signed up by letter equally that's still 7100+ members per letter of the alphabet. That would still be a needle in a haystack.

We added a search to that page so that you could narrow it down by letter should you choose. What's even better is that you can narrow it down by 2 letters. Normally when looking for someone you know at least the first 2 letters. So instead of clicking just 'N' and scrolling through pages until you get to 'Ne' you can just type 'Ne' and then if you want to narrow it down more you can keep typing. No limitations. You can backspace and try different letters. And all the while you can sort by column. This all happens live on the same page. No clicking around needed. Maybe there's a character in front of the letters you don't know about. The search doesn't worry about that, searching by letter you'd never find the person.

Adding the A - Z system back in wont do anything that you can't already do with the search. And it wouldn't solve the needle in a haystack problem here on Support.



On big forums its going to require more details to search. That's just a fact. Most forums don't have that many members. And even then a search system is far more efficient than a sorted list by letter. Even on your forum of 705 members that's only 27 a page per letter. That's less than a page per letter of members. That can't be that hard to search. using the search bar you're only going to return a page or 2 of members when you type letters in the search.

Try using the search and I think you'll find the solution to your problem.
