Show Birthdays

I don't understand why they say it's not possible to do this when these forums have it on theirs. How did they do this? Please enlighten us VS Admin. This is exactly what we need. Thank you.

Ouch. Now I couldn't spot the difference between the two but you are right. I just didn't realize that some still haven't upgraded to v5. Thank you so much for that JenF.

Hi aBiSh - I too miss birthdays showing like that and it has resulted in us not seeing someone's birthday and we had to apologize for not congratulating them but the reason you can see it there is that those forums are still using Version4 - they haven't converted yet..

I would like to see this feature remain in v5, too. We celebrate birthdays as well. 

So much easier to spot when they are right there on the home page.

I feel for you Rosefriend and ♥ ℒʊ√ ♥. I guess this is something that we just have to suck in because by the sound of it, they don't plan to implement it any time soon.

It's such a little thing ~ but it means a lot.

I'm in on that with you, Ladies. Someone has to manually check the Calendar - List Mode, in order to find out when there's a birthday, and whose it is. I agree it's very easy to miss out on someones' Big Day - and that is embarrassing!

Yes it does mean a lot - we are nearly all on the wrong side of 50 and it is nice for the "Big Day" to be remembered....we have been doing it since 2006.

I suppose we will get used to checking each day, although I have to admit to forgetting, but what I have noticed is that without the familar notice at the bottom somehow the birthday thread itself is missed and there are less people congratulating...sad.

Rosefriend, I agree. It doesn't seem like it would be a difficult thing. And most of us have very busy lives apart from the forum, so seeing them in plain view is a friendly wake up call. I create banners for everyone's special day with a little something personal to their personalities. Before signing out, I always check the home page and that little cake with the names along side of it was a great last minute reminder.

Like all things we will get accustomed to it, but it would be so nice not to have to.

Exactly, I missed a members birthday being announced on the front page the very day we upgraded. I just don't see our members all clicking on that birthday link just to see if someone is having one today.

I do have a couple of occasional members who will peek in just to see if anyone had rememberd them. They feel honoured if they had been. They tend to stick around a little bit and post a bit, catching up during their time there. But when they have not been remembered, they silently slink away.

There has to be a way either by a mod template or a plugin. Would appreciate if any coders out here would input on what their thoughts are on a possible mod for this or if it can be done at all.
