Some extra info would be helpful for the plugin author. Have you tested this or did you notice members changing their display name? You are aware plugins will not work on mobile so if someone accesses the forum with their phone they could still change their display name.

Wow I wasn't aware of that loophole!

But yes, even using my Windows PC, with 1.7.4 activated users are still able to edit their own display name.

For the time being I re-activated an old version, 1.5.2, which just removes the field instead.

In case there is some conflict going on, the other plugins I have activated are:

Collapsible Categories 1.0.6
IP Lookup 0.0.6
Awards System 2.3.62
Different On/Off Icons for Different Boards 1.0.4
Dislike System 1.0.1
XL Signature 0.0.2

If it's going to be one of those it could be the XL Signature, that's the most recent thing I installed, but even after disabling it and enabling Prevent Display Name Change 1.7.4 it still doesn't do its job.

how can I make it so only certain membergroups can change their display name? Right now, I think it's letting ANY staff member do it, and I'd prefer to restrict it to certain staff groups instead if that is possible

Hi Eclipse

You can exclude specific groups from any plugin.

From your Admin panel, navigate:
Admin Home> Plugins> Forum Plugins and remain on the Manage tab.

Find the line for the desired plugin and click the Edit button in the Permissions column.
A dialog will appear.
To the right of Except members in the groups:, click Add Group.
A second dialog will appear.
Tick the checkbox(es) for the group(s) you wish to exclude.
Click the Done button on the second dialog. (The second dialog will disappear.)
Click the Done button on the first dialog. (The first dialog will disappear.)
