Well it was working good but now it's doing the same thing again. Everytime I try to edit my profile, it will let me change my name but when I refresh that certain page, it will say staff permission required. Idk what would be causing this.

the plugin only applies to non staff members, staff can edit display names still.

i'm going to pm you an update and i want you to download it and try it and let me know if it works or not. and if it doesn't please provide step-by-step instructions so i can follow and try to reproduce the error.

Just curious (as I don't know), but would a non-staff account that belonged to a global member group with the edit profile power be a possible cause here? (Not sure what's checked for this, hence why I'm asking - just a thought I had).

There is a issue with these kinds of plugins where you must reload the personal edit page for it to work properly.

If the plugin has not been updated to account for this. Seeing that ®i©hie has put out at least 2 updates since PB did the change to the Edit Profile page, I would guess that this has already been taken into account and, quite possibly, pushed out with one of his updates. I'll let Richie confirm that though.

Also, since Richie has instructed someone to do a reset on their Edit Profile template ( support.proboards.com/post/6725923/thread ), this would point me to believe that the issue with the Edit Profile has been taken care of in the plugin. Which, of course, now begs the question: Is the person who's having this issue have a modified Edit Profile template?

This happens with other, not related, plugins as well. Such as the MPBG&TC plugin. You must refresh the personal edit tab to get the plugins to work.

the plugin checks if the "user (is_staff)" variable returns no (which is 0 in js, 1 is true).

i strongly believe i have found the issue:

it seems when you click on the "Profile" tab after visting the avatar section when you click "edit profile" the page is still considered to be on the avatar page, and location check returns false (as in, it "thinks" you aren't on the "edit personal" tab even though you are.

but i've found a work-a-round that should solve the issue.  should have an update posted soon
