1. I would like to replace the text "Time's up" with a friendlier text. Where could I do that? (I would like to choose text such as, "Sorry, the edit window has passed." 2. I also note that it seems the popup occurs whenever I hover over the Edit button? (Maybe only after dismissing the window once). Is this the only way it could be implemented? (Obviously I would prefer for it to only pop up when the user actually clicks, not if their mouse cursor just goes over it.) Thanks for answers to both questions. I do appreciate this functionality, as it will keep past content safe. When you move the mouse pointer over a quote button of a post that is out of time, you get the pop-up.. The Quote button should then disappear, so you should get the pop-up again for that post, as the button is gone. Is this not happening for you? I can add an option to change the pop-up message, that shouldn't be a problem.

I can't have this level of input into your design philosophy but I personally think no popup should ever happen just from briefly hovering over a button, but insteead only on a full click. After all the user might just accidentally hover over that area while moving their mouse, so a popup can be annoying. I would prefer the popup only if the user actually clicks.

There is an option already in the plugin to remove the pop-up altogether. If that is selected the Edit button won't even appear on out-of-time posts.

There is an option already in the plugin to remove the pop-up altogether. If that is selected the Edit button won't even appear on out-of-time posts. This is fantastic!!! It answers 1 and 2 completely. I had no idea this was no option (I thought I read the options.) So I take back everything I said! Don't need 1 or 2.
:-D
Edit: Okay, so I just checked. I suggest you change the text from: >By default, a message will be displayed if a member tries to edit a post after the allotted time. If you'd rather the pop-up not appear, tick the box below. To: >By default, the "edit" button is still visible on all posts, but if a user clicks it after the allotted time, a pop-up box appears saying they can no longer edit it. By ticking the box below, the Edit button won't even appear on out-of-time posts. That would make it very clear. It's the option I now selected. Thanks for your help! One practical question: if the user loads a page within the edit window, when that box is checked and starts editing it, but does not submit it for an hour or two (until they're past the edit window) then what will happen? I'm just curious, any behavior could be okay. Thanks.

If a member starts to edit a post before it is locked, the edit will be accepted no matter how long it takes them to submit the updated post.
After a post is edited, the count on that post is reset, so, if you have it set for 5 minutes, they will have another 5 minutes to edit that post again.

Mods and admins are exempt, just click the go to the drop-down (top right of post) and select 'Moderate'. Chris, you can select what categories/boards you want any plug-in to effect in the admin panel. I have entered each board and category I want the plug-in to affect. However, it currently is affecting even those NOT chosen. Help! SaveSave

It's working fine for me on my test forum.
Could you please post or PM a link to your forum please, and also tell me what you have added to the 'Thread/Board Restriction' field in the settings.
Thanks.

Do I need to list the categories, even if boards under them are not what I want to stop editing? Do I need to list the threads, also??? SaveSave

If you add a category name, then ALL boards and threads within that category will be restricted, the same goes for a board... Add a board names and ALL threads within that board will be restricted. So, if you only want certain threads in a board to receive the restriction, do NOT add the board name to the list etc.. So, only add a category name, or a board name if you want the ENTIRE category or board to be restricted, otherwise only list the thread numbers.

Is there a problem with this plug in? I have it installed but it seems that members are being allowed to delete and edit beyond the allowed parameters.

Haven't changed any of the settings. They applyto all members, all boards. Been working fine since installation but all of a sudden members are able to delete posts (which should be disabled) and edit after the allotted 45 mins.

If the plugin has been working and has suddenly stopped, I'd say something on your forum has changed.
Have you added, edited or moved any plugins? Or changed the theme in any way?

If users are on mobile, they can bypass the plugin. Just an FYI.
