Time restriction on modifying posts.

blc, I have just done some more testing on your forum, and the code is working fine for me.

I'll see if I can find another way of grabbing the posting time, but unless I can actually see the problem happening,all I'm doing is shooting in the dark and hoping I hit the target.

Ok, thanks for trying to fix the bug. Maybe Wormopolis can take a look at it when he has some free time.

The thing is... you should probably yank it from the plug in library, because we know from this thread that several people on different forums are having the same problem, where their members are unable to edit. Others may too, and just not realize it unless someone complains about it.

With it not working properly I had to disable it from my live site because by trying to use it, it prevented people from being able to edit their posts at all, which is a violation of proboards TOS.

Yes I know proboards can and do. We have no problem with that.
Your asking me to open the forum to guests, I cannot do that. We have a few people that would love to gain access and read our posts. Our forum is work related and this could potentially put jobs at risk.
I dont have an issue if Todge joins as a temp member, others have helped in this way in the past

But..

I know of only 5 forums that this has failed on, and only 3 on which I haven't yet been able to find the problem.

The other thing is, it's one thing to make a plugin to be used on only one forum, but it's a totally different issue to get it working on multiple forums, and is next to impossible to make it work on ALL forums, and unless it is tried on multiple forums and by different people, problems such as this would never arise in the first place, and so would never be rectified.

That's 5 forums that you know of. How many are using it and don't even realize it isn't working? I understand about the need for multiple forums and members to assist in debugging. Been there done that. Not fun, I know......

That goes for every plugin and code ever made...

Unless people with issues speak up, nothing can be done, and to remove a code from the library 'just in case' there are hundreds of unknown issues is, to me at least, overkill.

All you need to do is create a board that allows guests to post, Just that one board, so that Todge can make a post and test the edit function of the plug in.

I just wanted to add that Wormopolis needed to test the Quarantine plug in at my site and I don't allow guests to post, but I went to the structures area and allowed guests for one category, so that it could be tested.

You don't have to open the entire forum up to guests.

Can you please try version 1.0.5 from the opening post. It may take a couple of days for the library to be updated, so either wait a while before updating, or download the Plug-in from the link and install it manually.

Todge, I downloaded it from the first link of the first page, but part of the plug in is missing? There is no edit button and no way to set parameters.

Todge, I redownloaded and reinstalled 1.0.5.

I just finished checking it out at the 5 and 60 minute limits and I think you have it fixed!
