When we go to upgrade our forums to v5, I would like the ability to put the forum directly into Maintenance Mode after upgrade, without me being there. (i.e. a checkbox on the upgrade page.) The reason I want this is to prevent users from seeing a cruddy version of my forum before I get the chance to update it.

I was going to write something but thought the like button wouldn't get confusing. It was funny in my head anyway!

Add a "me too". I was thinking of putting it on maintenance mode going into the conversion, but I don't know if it would keep that status coming out.

I would also accept this option, assuming that translates. (I have to assume it would, so that old MM forums don't come out of MM and don't become a spam target.)

You control when your forum upgrades to v5. So you can place your forum into maintenance mode and then click to add yourself to the upgrade queue. After the upgrade is complete you will still be in maintenance mode. Ta da!!!
Now if you are someone who is just going to sit and wait to be auto upgraded starting on April 29th then that's too bad for you. But I suspect nearly anyone reading this does not fall into that category. And if they do care about maintenance mode after upgrade they can take the time to do it themselves prior to that day.

Quick question: What is your estimated time, that it will take for the forums to upgrade?

Quick question: What is your estimated time, that it will take for the forums to upgrade? That largely depends on the forum. You can join the BetaZone at www.proboards.com/betazone and convert a copy of your forum to see how long it will take. Most forums I've seen have been under 15 minutes.

That's good to hear.
