exdat.freemessageboards.comI have two themes on my forum: Simie Test, and Blue Stream. I wanted to see if it automatically forces you to use the only enabled theme if all others are disabled. So, i disabled the "Simie Test" theme, and yet even after refreshes, it wasn't on ANY of the themes created. It was sort of a mixture. It wasn't until simie went to his profile and it said he was using Blue Stream, he clicked save, and went back to the main page and it was then, and only then that it was the correct theme. What should have happened, is that upon refresh he should have been forced to use the only enabled theme and not have some messed up hybrid it also does it for my non-staff test account. I use Firefox, Simie uses Chrome.

Hi Stinky666, I gave this a few tries on a test forum and wasn't able to replicate the issue at all. It almost sounds like the browser had some elements of the previous theme cached and attempted to use those on the new skin that displayed once the skin they were using previously was disabled. If you happen to have this happen again when disabling a theme, use CTRL + F5 on your keyboard to do a hard refresh and see if that makes the skin display as it should, without saving anything in the profile. This would confirm whether or not the browser was using previously cached elements

I only saw firefox and chrome mentioned in your post? Those two browsers do a hard refresh haha omg. Sorry. Truly, I apologize. I never use Firefox that's why. I am so used to using Opera and so it was second nature to say Opera. I will give this another shot in the morning (heading to bed now). What I shall attempt is to make a couple of simple themes, and then do it from there and see if I get the same result/issue.

It's not a problem, let us know what you find out when you're able to do so

It's not a problem, let us know what you find out when you're able to do so Last post for me for tonight (lol).. The "Simie Test" theme had no stylesheets, he had deleted them all. Could that possibly be the cause or at least play any role in why it happened?

So I wouldn't rule it out in that instance

Hi Ricky, I was testing this with Stinky. Hard refreshing, a different browser (which had never loaded the forum before) and deleting the cache didn't help. Not sure what's happening here, but if I do this: - "Blue Stream" is default - Set skin in profile to "Test 2" - Disable "Test 2" in Admin = Broken but if I do this: - "Test 2" is default - Set skin in profile to "Blue Stream" - Disable "Blue Stream" = Correctly reverts to "Test 2" Is there a v5 equivalent to pb_skinid I can use to determine what skin it reverts too? Here is a screenshot of the broken layout: and here is the expected output: I think Stinky originally created Blue Stream as a copy of another skin which is now deleted, if that changes anything. I just examined the source of the skin select dropdown in profile settings, when the skin is broken there is no <option> with the selected attribute present.

I thought I had replied to this topic on Tuesday, but that appears to not have been the case. My apologies for the delayed response here. But I did test using the forum with firefox, switching skins as Simie described in his post and still didn't come across any issues when the skin I was using was disabled. Stinky666 is this something you're able to produce as well? Or is it just Simie that this is happening with that you know of?

I just have a few things I need to do, then when I get back to the PC, I will test it again. Edit: Ok so, I just had 3 themes enabled. 'Blue and Pink Stream', 'New Theme 2', and 'New Theme 2 Copy (testing)'. For me personally I am using the "New Theme 2", so I have disabled that along with the copy of it, keeping "Blue and Pink Stream" enabled. As soon as I come out of the Admin area onto the main page, this is what I see: If I refresh, or hard refresh, the exact same look is showing. I then go to Profile > Edit Profile > Settings > Make no changes, but click "save", the menu bar and everything is back to how it should be: I proceed to the Home/Main page it again, is now working fine, how it should: I use Firefox, and Vista 32.
