Is this possible? Obviously don't want it on Calender, Members, PM's, Profile, those sorts of pages.
But so it's on thread list pages and thread creation pages, those sort of pages?
Feels like if it is possible it'd be a template mod?
Thanks

The first line of your Home template should simply be $[news]
This adds the news bar to the page - you could either add it to the individual templates you want it to display on, or add it to the forum wrapper to have it display on all pages. =]

Just had a quick play myself, and you seem to be right. The templates don't seem to like having the $[news] anywhere but the Home and Wrapper templates. Any chance Brian or CheatAreZee could have a look? =]

Home and Forum Wrapper are the only places the $[news] variable exists.
You can look at the tree on the right of the layout template you're editing to see variables that exist for that particular template.

I assumed they always existed, but the list just gave you the variables it thought were pertinent. Apparently not, haha. Any particular reason it's set up that way?

You'd have to ask the devs about that one. I would personally love for almost every variable to exist for every template, but I can understand that not all of the variables are necessary on every page (who needs a news feed in their mini profile? ). My guess is it's for the sake of shorter load time, since all of that stuff has to be translated to HTML server-side.

I'm honestly not sure if I should be disappointed or not, haha. News fader aside I can't say I've missed anything (short of a $[current_user.is_staff] variable =P) yet, so I shan't complain. =] So to actually answer your question, Maiden, it looks like it's either the Home or Wrapper template - home page or all pages I'm afraid.

I'll see if I can't get is_staff added to the available data for the current user variable, I'm not sure why it's not there already. As for the news fader, it should be possible to have it only on some pages using CSS to hide it as a workaround on those pages you don't want it showing.

Just to be clear, I have tried this also, and find the news option only available on the home layout template. It is not on the forum wrapper template for me, or any other.
I would like to put the news fader on all the regular boards. But again, I don't seem to have the option in my forum wrapper template.
