That's what classes are for. If you want one line of CSS to affect multiple elements you should be using a class as multiple elements can share the same classes. In Javascript the ID is used to find a single specific element on the page. If you have multiple elements on the same page with the same ID your Javascript is only going to affect one of them.

In the case of the sidebar plugin one of two things is going to happen when you collapse two containers with the same ID and reload the page: The browser is only going to remember that one of them was collapsed or if you collapse one of them every other container that shares the same ID is also going to be collapsed.

My plugins are designed for desktop devices as the desktop version of the forum is the only place where plugins work.

Ensure that you're on the desktop view on all devices you're testing with.

I hate to say how I'm still green about this sort of stuff. I know what a desktop is on my laptop/regular PC. But how do I get that on my iPhone? Or how to tell my friends HOW to do that for their devices?

I was trying to tinker around, to install the tapatalk app to my iphone. I think there's something I'm not understanding to do with it. (I don't use very many apps on my phone.) Anyway, I was wondering if my installing this app that that was why I briefly saw the plugins working just fine on my phone? If that is how I get to the "desktop view" that you mentioned, while using these devices. If it is, I'll definitely put more time and focus on that.

EDITED: I FOUND IT! I use Safari on my iphone. Down at the bottom you can click "DASHBOARD VIEW" That did it. I can see ALL of my plugins like I do on my laptop. THANKS Brian!

Sorry to bother you again Brian

Is there a way to move the side bar to be below the news fader, or even with the first container title bar? I'd like my forum banner image to be all the way across the top if possible. If not, then it's ok. Just thought I'd ask.

ps. I'm going to backread this thread as much as I can (whew! 108 pages) to see if you've already commented on this request. Just posting this here in case you have not.

Turn off the Move Banner option if you'd prefer the sidebar to be below the banner instead of beside it.

If you want your news feed to be above the sidebar you'll need to remove the $[news] variable from Themes > Layout Templates > Home and place it above the $[header] variable in Themes > Layout Templates > Forum Wrapper.

Can you rephrase that? It sounds like you're asking for two opposite things at once.

I really need to put a shoutbox on the front page only and just curious if your plugin can only work on the front page
as for the float side just curious if that is feasible or not?

EEk. I did that bottom part you mentioned (about the news feed). I saved both pages. News fader just disappeared. (that's not really a big deal for me, but I was not certain if that was supposed to happen.)

I'm just a bit rusty and can't remember where to go to TURN OFF the move banner option. I looked in Themes > and both in Color Theme creator as well as in Advanced styles and css. I didn't see an off option.

Hi, Skidjit.

The Move Banner option is probably a setting in the plugin itself (I don't have it, so I can't check). Go to Admin > Plugins > Manage and click the name of the plugin to get to it's settings. See if the Move Banner option is in there somewhere.

Ah, okay. I just a little confused there. Normal for me at this time of the morning (I'm not a morning person, but woke up early for some reason).

I might be going the long way around this.. but on my iPhone I use Safari to poke about online. Scroll down to the very bottom of the page and you will see an option to choose "desktop" (beside that will be the "back" "top" option.) Once you click on desktop all of our plugins work on our phone. I'm told it's the same on all browsers. (I hope I said that right. I'm not that good at tech talk.)
