Right now it seems that the "Thread Summary" displays the first posts in a thread rather than the latest posts. Pretty much all of the forum software I've ever used has that list reversed, the newest post is at the top near the text editor and older posts are underneath it.
Why exactly? Because people are much more likely to want to read the latest posts in a thread while they're writing a reply than they are to want to read the first five posts that may have become completely irrelevant to the discussion over the course of a long thread.
Could we please get an option to display the 5 most recent posts in the summary rather than the 5 oldest posts?

You can reverse the order yourself with a plugin.
As for what is displayed, that is no different than v4. You see the page you came from when replying. We don't show other pages that you may not have even read yet. That wouldn't make sense. If you only got to page 3 of a 6 page thread, showing you the last 5 posts of page 6 doesn't help you while replying at all. You clicked reply in response to something on the current page, so we show a summary of that page. What order those show is up to you.
In the future we may add options to the thread summary, but for now that is how it works.

I wasn't really here much for v4, so I'm not used to how it works. I understand a little better how it works now, showing posts from the page you were on when you hit reply, but I still think it's kind of odd when you're used to it showing something completely different. And are plugins capable of getting the data from the last posts in a thread even if you're on an earlier page of the thread? Anyways, it's good to hear that there may be some options added for this in the future, I never expected this to make it into v5.0.

I have looked through the v5 database without success and also searched for " Reverse posts in threads" in quite a lot of the support boards also without success. On the main support board it was mentioned that this would be a standard option in V5.Any help would be appreciated as like Mabel, most of my users would like this optionThanks in anticipation

I never said there was a plugin. I said it could be done with a plugin. They don't just magically appear when i say that, though that would be pretty neat. If there's any plugin you need and you can't find it already in existence then you need to request it in the plugin request board. This would be one of those situations.
