Im just going to say this now, and keep in mind its just my opinion, but there wont be a rush to line up to write a code that does something that the native code already does. especially since it already takes care of keeping track of all the likes AND is tied in with the notification system. nothing anyone could write would be able to setup a new notification like the native code does.

not geared towards you in anyway worm, just in general...
so nobody could even head us in teh right direction to duplicate code to ADD a dislike function alongside the like? i should have figured as much with the lack of anyone responding on the repeated times this has been asked by numerous people only to fall on what feels like deaf ears.
the dislikes are just as important as the likes, or atleast they are on two of the boards im on.

as I said, it was just my opinion why nobody has made a move on this. Im NOT saying no one WILL, Im just saying that writing a code like this wouldnt be able to do nearly as much as what the current code does. Part of the reason the "dislike" button wasnt made was that it has about the same connotations as negative karma did. people abused it. a plugin COULD be written to store all the userids of the likes and dislikes, but would you really want a list of all the people that disliked a post to be available to the person that wrote the post? in some situations it might be useful, but it might have the wrong effect on someone who was sensitive to that sort of thing. A plugin could notify the poster that someone liked/disliked their post like the native code does but it would require an additional key (thats 2 keys now for 1 plugin) to store every single post that has received some sort of attention. and it would eventually fill up and have to start removing the earlier entries.
as for "deaf ears", there are only a handful of people writing codes right now (I think maybe 6?). and most of that time has been spent trying to convert older v4.5 codes into v5 versions. Im currently trying to work on 3 at once and some days it feels like Ive got nothing done. feel free to keep bumping this out, but I just wanted to address why it might not happen. you might consider putting a new thread in feature requests for a "dislike button" (assuming there isnt already one) to see what the devs think about the idea. if they are open to it, it would be far easier to incorporate it into the native code so keys wouldnt have to be used for it.
