Fading Gif

Brian in your error bear skin you have a gif of text that sorta fades between different colors. How do you build something like this? I really like it and I want to steal borrow your idea for another forum

If this question is just for me you could've just sent a PM. Although I guess other can toss in their suggestions this way.

I made it in GIMP. I typed in blue text, gave it a black outline, then copied the layer multiple times. Then I increased the brightness of the blue text on each of those layers for the fade in effect. After that, I copied all the existing layers in reverse order for the fade out.

And bam, is the end result.
