Hover over site banner

Okay, ive not seen this on proboards before, but I was wondering if there was something similar that could be done, because i think its awesome.

To sum it up, when a user overs their mouse button over the site main banner, it goes opaque and you can see general site information underneath in various boxes etc. You can have site updates or staff images etc.

Is something similar like this possible for pbv5 ?

I'll give this a go. First off, if you hover over the "Dantooine" image on this test site of mine, would that be the sort of thing you want—just on the main forum banner? Also, do you have an example of some content you'd use in this?

Some more questions for my own reference more than anything: I assume the forum banners are relatively large, but what would we want to do if it there was more content than could be shown: add scrollbars or extra "pages"? How would people know that this information is there without hovering over? What if people don't know what sort of CSS would be needed: would we make a basic layout for them to use as a starting point?

Yes that sort of idea!
What I would like to do, would be to have say have a mini information table behind the banner. I believe ive seen this idea on some Jcink forums. I could then put information in scroll boxes (which might answer your content question), perhaps some spotlight images etc, behind the banner.

I'd suggest some kind of basic layout, that people can then edit. Baring in mind im not the best coder at all, which is why im requesting!

So perhaps a basic precoded information table like one with a scroll bar etc for people to put info in, behind the hover over code? Then people who are more able with coding can develop what they'd like behind themselves?

I'm not a part of the proboards team itself, but I am actually currently working on a CSS and Header based coding for this. So, I'll keep you updated on my findings as well. My current test site is eatingusalive.proboards.com You can see I've currently got the ability to hover over already. I'm working out a few ticks, and getting the information added.
