I would love an option to allow members who aren't staff to delete threads that they created (not just their post, but the entire thread). Is that possible?

no because it would mean they had powers to delete OTHER member's posts and there just isnt a way that can be possible.

That's what I was afraid of. I was hoping there might be a way to compare their user # to the created_by # and only show the option if they matched or something, so that only the thread creator could see it.

hiding all the other member posts would also remove the ability for those members to either edit or delete their own posts.

hiding all the other member posts would also remove the ability for those members to either edit or delete their own posts. further clarification on this. that is no longer a rule. but even still, no code would be able to allow a member to delete a thread without them having that ability assigned to them with a group permission.
