Change home page?

I don't know if I'm posting in the right place, because I'm still new to version 5. Basically I was wondering if I could have the home page separate from the forum, with it's own column tables. I don't want the actual forum to be the first page to show up when opening up the site's url. Would I need a plugin for this, or...?

You can do that with custom pages. Just go to the admin panel. Click on structure and custom pages. Whrn you have set up the page you go to the custom page settings and set is as the front page.
