2400 lines of code and text saved without a problem, then if you edit the code while in vis ed, it throws up an angry bear (cannot load this site).
even clearing the code and trying to save does the same thing. only way to get it working is to refresh the page, add the html widget, and paste the edited code back, then it will save.

Going back to look at the page, there is nothing there, so it didn't actually save.

Is there a limit ?

This is a complicated one. As far as I can tell there's some code not being escaped. This is a bit beyond me so I'll make a ticket for a dev to look into it for you.

safetynet.proboards.com/admin/structure/custom_pages/edit/qa2006/visual as an example, the page is empty at the moment because the content didn't save

You were right, the amount of HTML you were trying to save was too much so it was only partially saving. Since it was a partial save, the next time you tried to view/edit the page, it would clear the data for that zone.

We're going to greatly increase the limit for the amount of data you can save. Also, there will be an error message if you happen to go past the limit.
