Would it be possible to attach the dice roller to the shoutbox?

thestoryteller: Shoutboxes are 3rd party widgets independent of Proboards. They run off of proprietary software on 3rd party servers, and I've never seen one that allowed users to run custom scripts.

Furthermore, due to the way that web browsers isolate content from different web domains, nothing inside a shoutbox can communicate with something outside the shoutbox, and vice versa.

Hence the answer to your question is 'no'. When it comes to shoutboxes, what you get out of the box is what you get.

This is probably a dumb question but how do you roll multiple dice without having to spam click the add dice button? Also how do you set it up?

ambros: If you mean rolling multiple dice that sum to some total value, you can use any of the range syntaxes listed under "Range Syntax" on the first page of this thread.

For example, [roll=5d6] rolls five 6-sided dice, and [roll=3d20+5] rolls three 20-sided dice and adds 5 to the total.

If you mean that you want to be able to insult numerous sequential rolls, such as

Attack: [roll=6d2+10]
Defense: [roll=6d2+10]
Intelligence: [roll=6d2+10]
Resistance: [roll=6d2+10]
Cuteness: [roll=6d2+10]

you'll either have to spam the button, or type in the tags manually in BBCode, or use good old copy 'n paste.

I'm having trouble with the previewable rolls.

I added the UBBC code, I have graphics in place for the regular rolls, and I've tried adding graphics to the boxes in the previewable page, but nothing comes up. It just shows me the code I'm trying to use as text, and has completely disappeared my roll button even when I take the settings back out.

So confused.

I downloaded VDice 1.1.4 and uploaded images for the dice into the plugin, then in the graphics tab set which file names go with which number outcomes...

But I'm getting blank pictures.

I first tried this with the VDice then with VDice (Standard Die edition) and it was the same problem with both of them. Even after images are uploaded then put into the graphics section I get blanks.

temperance: If you can provide me with a link to your board, I can check your plugin settings and see what may be causing the problem.

If boxes with numbers are showing up, it means that you're getting roll outcomes without associated images. If nothing at all is showing up, it means that the plugin isn't able to find the images you've specified. If you're uploading images into the plugin, you can reference them in the Graphics tab either by their URL (which will look something like the URL below) or by their resource name.

Example URL:

An image's resource name is the name assigned to it in the Images section of the plugin. Several examples are shown with red boxes above. They're usually shorter and cleaner than the URLs.

If you're using a URL rather than a resource name in the Graphics tab, the URL must start with either http:// or https://. Anything else is treated as a resource name.

Thank you. I figured out that the problem was not setting the range correctly. Silly mistake. I've got it working now.

This may be a strange question, but would it be possible to set it so that the same number would not appear twice in the same post? I'm using this plugin as a way of basically pulling cards from a 78 card deck. It works well for this, but there is that chance of getting the same card twice, which we can live with but I figured I might as well ask. cartomancercoop.boards.net/

temperance: I can update VDice to support a 2D78 -style range syntax (e.g. draw 2 from a group of 78 without replacement), but it will have to wait a while as I tackle other projects.

Would it be possible to modify the build of this plugin to change the BBCode syntax, so that you could install the Plugin twice, one for a D20, and one for a D10? Because I'd like to roll only those two type of dice, and using Dynamic range opens the possibility of people choosing numbers other than 10 or 20, and I'd like to use custom graphics instead of having the barebones and see the dice range used in the post.
