I use alt+s all the time across various boards and it's HUGELY annoying for it not to work in V5 - especially as it works in the current version. I hope that it appears in V5 soon!
Apart from that the features are a great improvement and it's nice to have decent post cutting, moving and merging at last. It's very much slowe Using XP SP3 and IE 8 V5. Hopefully it's the extra beta code that's slowing it down.

But why change to Alt+C? Every other board I use (bar one where it's not implemented) uses Alt+S. You used to use Alt+S. I don't see the logic.

The logic comes from using what are considered the UK Government Access Key Standard. Websites are trying to adhere to a "standard" so that every website doesn't have different shortcuts. These shortcuts are great for blind users, but are also very useful for regular users. They provide a uniform experience across all websites if everyone adopts the same standard. Please see: www.hcidata.co.uk/register-dot-gov-dot-uk-access-key.htm

So, it's the British government muddying the water? Frankly you should let them go their own way - nothing anyone says will change their mind - and instead use what the rest of the world is using.
Postscript
Out of habit I just tried to use Alt*S to post. It didn't work, of course. So I then tried Alt+c but that didn't work.
Confused...

I'll agree with this once the USA starts using the same date format the rest of the world is using. Posted: 08/02/2013

Alt+C just brings up the favourites panel for me.
Useless.
