BYO Mini Profile and Customization Codes

Hey there!

I have a problem with trying to get certain codes to work together. I am currently using Ross' BYOMP code. I am using it multiple times on different boards, rather than in the Main and/or Global footers as I am trying to set the site up so that it shows certain elements on one board in the MP but others in another - so that the member can post both out of character and in character with the appropriate facts for each.

The first set up has worked fine and can be found on this thread. This is my normal member mini profile and works perfectly. I am copying the exact same layout for my character version so I listed this one as an example of what they are both supposed to look like in a structural sense.

This is the character MP version. The problem comes from trying to use other codes to create the information I want in my character MP and getting it there...

1. I'm using Wormo's 2nd Avatar code to give me the character avatar as well as the member's. Obviously it doesn't show on the member MP but I can't get it to show on the character MP either. I thought the id might have been av2 which I have in place at the moment but along with a few other guesses, it didn't work.

2. I have in place a customized version of the Harry Potter Houses code to attribute affiliations of the character - labelled as 'Loyalty'. I've tried the ids both of loyalty and house/s but can't seem to get it to work.

3. And finally, I have the RPG Me! code by Crazy_J to give me RPG settings for strength, defence and agility - which I altered from health, magic and stamina - as well as the money - 'creds' - system. Again I can't seem to get the MP to pick up the values.

4. The Karma links are also not appearing where they should. (Where the online/offline message is on the member MP version). I think this is something in it's own right not working but thought I would put it up here in case one of the others is effecting it.


Sorry if this seems like I'm being cheeky and trying to get multiple help requests in one but these codes have already effected each other a few times while I tried to get them to work everywhere outside of the MP, so I figured it would make more sense to put it all together rather than checking between three different threads and making sure solutions didn't cross over each other.



SIDE NOTE: I'm not asking for help with these now, in this thread, as these definitely need their own but I wanted to explain these next few things just in case they effect any coding solutions to the above (I have no idea how Java etc. works).

1. With the Str/Def/Agi/Creds code, I will be looking to change it (if it can be done) so that they are not reliant on post count. Only Creds would be calculated from post count while the other three would be simply controlled and changed through their stats page.

2. I'm looking to remove some of these character MP elements from the main profile page, including - location (currently it is keeping the character's name in place as a surrogate username in the character MP), loyalty and signature.

As I said, these have no real bearing on the above only in case it will effect coding etc and it's easier to mention them now than to find a code doesn't work because of it later on.

Anyone know how to do this?

I think I just need the IDs for the custom codes so that the mini profile will pick them up correctly. I just don't know what they are from the Java because I can't read Java.

This is a shot in the dark, but Wormo suggested to someone else to make the MYO mini profile mod run last. That persons issues are different but check out wormo's suggestion in the very last post on that page. It might be worth a shot.

The defer he is talking about is in this line where I added it in blue:

Since you have the MYO in boards, maybe that will give the other codes a chance to run first??? Worth a try, I think.

I tried moving the codes about. I don't think that I can move the custom codes in to the board h/fs as they need to be in the main/global but I did everything else I could to make the BYO run last. I added the defer and removed the BYO java from the board (keeping the <span> codes in the board) to the global footers at the very bottom. Still nadda.

I think you're probably right with what you're saying so I'm going to keep the codes where I've moved them - especially as it hasn't altered the working mini profile any.

I think the problem is that I just don't know how to read the java. I also don't know how it works but I have the idea that in the java of the custom codes there is some ID for the elements it's adding that I could then implement in the BYO/MYO code. Or, if there isn't that it would be possible to add such an ID that I can then use in the span tags so that the information can be retrieved.

Problem is, I don't know which code is causing the issue - my writing (most likely) for not having the right IDs in the MYO code, the MYO code for not having the capacity/option to retrieve the elements or the custom codes for not having the IDs in place.

Thanks anyway for your help though - like I said, I'm keeping the codes like that because I think you're right and that that's a better place for them to be.

Hey just to say I am now converting this forum to version 5 so, the issue remains the same but if there is a way of solving it on version 5 then that would be awesome.
