It would be very useful to me to be able to switch off post editing at times. We use the forum to carry out an auction for fantasy sports, where withdrawing or changing a bid is illegal, so at those times, it would be helpful if I could somehow stop people from being able to change posts

It would be very useful to me to be able to switch off post editing at times. We use the forum to carry out an auction for fantasy sports, where withdrawing or changing a bid is illegal, so at those times, it would be helpful if I could somehow stop people from being able to change posts One way you could accomplish this, would be to hide the "edit" button for the amount of time you need/want. This would hide it in ALL boards, and in ALL posts/threads, though. If you wish to know how, do the following: Admin > Themes > Layout Templates > Thread > Post List Find this, for me it is on line 29, but I have extra stuff added, but yours should be close to line 29, possibly about 25ish. $[post.edit_button] Replace that with <!--$[post.edit_button] -->Now, when you want to show the edit button again, all you need to do is remove the bits in front and after, the bits in red. This is better than removing the actual part of code, so you don't have to save it somewhere, or keep going back to copy and pasting it in. This way, it's simple and you just add/remove those characters to hide/show the button.

There is a plugin called "Disable editing after a set time". You get to set the time in minutes.

This can be accomplished with a plugin or template mod.
Sorry but we won't be adding this at this time.
Thank you.
