Tested this one in IE9 and Chrome - Version 24.0.1312.57 m. Win7/Fiber 1) The URL to the page you are on when the bug occurred. link2) What happened, in detail? In IE9 where i noticed it first Nothing happend when clicking the B button in visual mode it got stuck in the pressed in so clicked again to get it back out again and kept doing that with the text i wanted to bold but it didn't work. Went back in to fix it by adding the [ b ] [ / b ] code and when i posted it I saw that All the other Bolded words were back to normal instead. Went back in and entered the BBCode mode and then clicked the B button and it worked as it should but had to do it all over again since they disapeared from the other words when i added the code in visual mode. In Chrome I edited the post and and tried to bold a text part that is not bolded by marking it and click the B button but all that did was make it shrink it instead. In the BBC mode All the text in the post is mashed up because All the empty lines are gone so it is hard to see where to start editing the things you are supose to edit but the bolding function works in the BBcode as it should but not in Visual mode. When we edit a post on the board the text is larger and bolded from the start to make it easier to read but when posted the text is normal and only those marked with the B code is bolded the rest is normal. In BBCode there are some wierd code(?) parts appearing every now and then like amp;amp; but it aint doing much for the post itself but it makes it more messy when you are trying to edit something with lots of text in it already. When marking a word and clicking the B button in visual and then go to the BBCode It turnes out like this: word here and then the closing tag /span and lots of parts with closing tags too. Not used to the BBCode so im sure some of this is as they should be but hopefully not all.
Also noticed something wierd, when i click and hold my scroll wheel on the mouse I can make the board move to the sides, never seen that before and it only happens when im in the BBCode mode in that post tried it in other threads but nothing happens then. (Chrome only)
3) What do you think should have happened instead? It should Bold the words when clicking the B in visual mode instead of doing nothing. (IE9) It shouldn't remove the other bold codes when adding new ones yourself without pressing the button.(IE9) It should bold the words instead of making the text "normal" when clicking the B button. (chrome) It shouldn't add extra codes in the text in the BBCode mode when clicking the B button that makes the text "normal" (chrome)
4) Can you reproduce this on every pageview? Well When ever i edit a post I can.
5) What browser, version, and operating system are you using?
Tested in IE9 and Chrome both up to date, win7 on fiber connection.
Sorry about the long post wanted to get as much info in as possible and kinda hard to explain in few words..

Hi Entris, I love details reports! Makes it so much easier for me to test and replicate. With that being said, I was unable to replicate any of your issues, either here on support, on your forum, or in IE9 and Chrome. Is this issue still ongoing? Can you still replicate it? Do you have another computer that you could test this on? Sorry for not being much help so far! Thank you again for the super detailed report.

Tyvm for your responce and testing it for me Michael Unfortunantly the issue is still there for me and as you wished I tried it on a diffrent computer but that only have FF on it (My GFs computer so couldn't hog it for too long and didn't want to mess around installing other browsers on it incase she doesn't want them there but if needed I will do so anyways). I was stupid enough to go do the test in the original post again (here) and totally screwed that up again and had to remake it yet again lol, was just lucky I copied the post and added it to a test area on the board so i could just copy that and add to the original post with some smaller differences. When i was on my computer marking a word and then press the B button to bold that word it didn't work at all but doing it in the BBCode mode it worked as it should. After marking a word and pressing the B to bold the word and then enter the BBCode mode there were no [b*] code before and [*/b] code after the word and marking it and pressing the B button again added the code to the front/back of the word. When I used the other computer and working in FF the B button still didn't work when marking a word and pressing the button, nothing happend at all. Clicked Edit again and then entered the BBCode mode marking a word and then click the B button worked as it should and the word was bolded when i finished the editing. I made a special thread where I tested this in the Visual and BBCode mode while on a diffrent computer and using FF (here) it's the last posts in that thread the first once are while im on My own computer using IE9. The first line in the posts while I was using FF on the other comp tells you What I did and Where I did the changes. I have Cleared my web history Cookies Temporary files DL history and visited history several times (not entirely sure how to clear the cache if thats not done when clearing the others though). If you want me to do anything else to test this let me know and i will do so asap.

Hi Entris, You originally typed up the post that you linked me in visual mode, correct? I don't understand how you got so many < div > tags instead of normal line breaks. Aside from the bold button not working, could you have another member of your forum type up something that includes a few paragraphs with normal line breaks (in visual mode) and bolding? I'm trying to narrow down if its somehow a code on your forum affecting the WYSIWYG editor/BBCode, or something else. Your post from a different computer yielded the same results as the first computer, so I don't necessarily think its that. When I post using the same version of Firefox, I don't get the issue either (on your forum or here).

Hiya MichaelThe original post was made in january 2012 while on V4.5 and this issue started when I edited that post to add one of our guild members got info in there and that was in V5 Visual mode. I have never used the BBCode mode before after updating to V5 so I have no experience as of How it should look like and What should happen in there so no idea if the <div> tags have been in there before or not, will check if any of the other guild leaders have used the BBCode mode and seen how it looked earlier on (wish I checked it when i was testing it before..). Edit: Not sure if this is intended when it comes to the Visual mode but I can't see the [b*] tags at all when I press the B button so it is very hard to know if the words are getting the tags or not. Also very hard if you know that the word you are about to type should be in bold and can't see the tags to know where to type the words. Guess thats why we have the BBCode mode but figured that as much info is better then leaving something out. I will continue to dig through the board and remove alterations I have made to diffrent templates and what not to see if those are causing this issue and will also ask one of the guild leaders if they could test: Creating a semi long post in the Visual mode and use the bold (B) button to bold a minimum of 3 words in that post. Edit the same post in Visual mode and then Bold other words without touching the other bolded words by using the B button. Edit the same post again and then enter BBCode mode and see if the text is pushed together with wierd text and <div> tags. Edit the same post again and enter BBCode mode and Bold some words that aint bolded. And ask them if they have any issues at all or if it all runs smooth and also if the text in the BBCode mode is pushed together having the <div> tags instead of line breaks. As soon as that is done I will get back here and report what they said and link you to the posting area where the tests were done or if i manage to track down whats going on myself I will make a post here asap. Edit2: As I was typing the text for the test I had some wierd things happen to me but no idea if it is related to this issue or if it is just the IE screwing with me as usuall.. After marking a word and clicking the B button I could all of a sudden not mark another word in the middle of a sentence I could only mark text from the Last word in a sentence. After notecing that I missed a character in the text i just typed I clicked there and when I added the character it ate the letter that was after it. I then copied the rest of the remaining sentence and cut it out Added the missing character and pasted the rest of the text i cut out after it and that ate up the text I added below in a new row. There are some wierd things happening to me lol probably IE screwing with me as usuall causing me a headache because i noticed that the board layout was diffrent while on FF then it is while on IE and I have no idea why or how to fix it but thats a whole new chapter..

Hiya Michael I asked the members on the board to make a post with text fallowing some instructions as of how to do the post and so on and it is not just me having this issue. ATM 2 of the members have tested this for me and the B in Visual is not working as it should for them either. There might be more tests comming if there are others inclined to test this for me but you can see the resault in this Help Me test bolding thread on our board. They posted their info in the tests post incase you want to know which browsers they are using.

Hi EntrisI threw together a quick little form for people to post to narrow this down as quickly as possible. This is text bolded in visual mode using the 'bold' button.
This is text bolded in BBCode mode using normal bold tags. ( [b] and [/b] )
This is text bolded in BBCode mode using the 'bold' button.
This is normal text without any formatting whatsoever. Go ahead and use this (while performing the appropriate actions) in a post. Don't edit the post at all, and wait for me and a dev to take a look to see what the tags/appearance is. I'll test out the editing. Thanks!

Hey Michael I added the above to the test thread and made a new post fallowing these instruction here, not sure when/if any others are posting but hopefully there will be some other tests posts soon with those lines in them. The last phrase with the normal text was made in the BBCode (since I was in there already after adding the [b*] tags and so on for the phrases above) not sure if that matters but figured i'd add it incase it's needed. Here is the result to my post: link

Hi Entris, This gets more peculiar by the day. I did a test post on your forum myself (Updated Chrome+Firefox) and was totally unable to recreate this. It's not an issue with your theme, or custom template. Plugins seem to not affect this (and they shouldn't). It's not a forum-bug or else it would be more consistent (and effect me as well). I would write this off as something related to your computer (extension, add-on) but other users seem to be experiencing the same thing as you. The tags appear to work when you use the bold button in the visual editor, but they either don't stick after hitting 'Create Post', or just don't appear at all but give you the visual indication that they have. Clearly I have missed something. Give me some time to get a dev to look into this.

Tyvm Michael for the help with this. Gotta say that im very happy that it aint just me that has these problems and that others have verified it too, would hate to buy a new comp lol, im wondering though if there is something that affects Us the users on the board that doesn't affect You as the "head admin" when you test this and all works? Something that your powers over ride so it doesn't affect you at all when you get to the board and test things or do you and the other PB staffs see the boards the same as the board admins do when you get on it? Just something i thought of since those that helped me test it comes from diffrent countries using diffrent browsers with the same problem. Probably a shot in the dark but figured i'd throw the thoughts out here.

Hiya MichaelThink the others got a bit tired of helping me test the bolding so not had any new posts as of yet. The bold button still doesn't work in the visual mode but adding the tags manually works as it should when in visual mode, confusing

Some additional info:
I've got some time to test things out a bit more and noticed that this issue seems to be restricted to the IRON V2 Theme only. I tried the B button and Tags while using the Testing and Testing2 Themes and everything works as it should (made the posts in the thread linked above) so it seems to be limited to the default IRON V2 theme.
