Bold not bolding the text in visual

Yeah thats what i figured too but the biggest problem I have now is - If I copy the theme and then re-add it again will the issue travell with the copy then or not.

Guess I will find out when i get the time to do so, if it does travell I will have a bunch of hours ahead of me writing all the colors and what not down lol

Sorry to pesture you again with this Michael but copying the theme and adding it again transfers the issue with the theme

Is there any way to save the theme settings (the colors specially since some of those are not shown in the options in the C&S) and only get a part of the theme?
I know what things I have added to the theme and so on so I can add those again but writing down all the color settings for everything and what settings was done where will be a pain in the behind..

If there is no other way to save those special settings in an easy way i will just start writing them down but figured I'd ask first before doing so incase i can save myself some time.

There is currently not a way to do that easily. This has been discussed before, and has a chance of showing up in the future.

I'm looking into the bug you reported. I see that the IRON V2 theme has all text bold by default. Is this the desired effect? It causes the Visual Editor to mimic the bold effect for all text, which causes some strange things to happen in IE9 and Chrome.

Yeah I set the text to be bolded as a default because I wanted to make the texts more readable for some of the members, also tried to toggle the fonts for them too so they would be larger and there for easier to read.
Figured that when someone uses the B button/tags it would make the chosen text even bolder to stick out more and that has worked so far but with the issues explained above.

If there are easier ways to get the desired effects i could use those instead but no idea if there are since im a noob at these things and the preview window doesn't show the changes i do at all which makes me have to change things save and then check the board every time which gets very annoying after some changes and thus makes me give up to pick it up another day.

That's a very reasonable assumption - and in a perfect world, it would be easy to make fonts bolder (it's supported in CSS). However, a lot of factors determine whether users will actually see "bolder" fonts. It depends on the font being used, the browser, and even the user's OS.

I found a great article here that shows a visual test of different font weights:

It's a tricky problem. On the one hand, you need to show users what their post will look like to them. On the other hand, you need to accurately show them how their post may look to other users. I'll discuss this with the other staff members and see what they think. In the meantime, I suggest that you temporarily change your default font to not be bold for that theme. Note that you can change all your fonts everywhere on the forum to be bold to achieve the look you want. That's fine. But the visual editor uses your default font, and that's where the problem is.

We'll try to come up with a better long-term solution.

I removed all the text from the default font weight and saved and made a post while using the B button and that surely did the trick to fix the B button
Got a question though, would we be better off leaving the "Default Text" area blank and only work with the other text settings (guessing there are ways to alter the text in all areas of the board?) instead to get the desired effects on the board or do we Have to use that for some parts of the board?
Not really sure i know what the default text does that the other settings don't do so this might be the dumbest question in the history of PBs but thats ok for me

Read the article you linked me to and I just can't belive that the CSS bug for the fonts have been around for so many years and still am here 3 years after that article was written!
They need to get their lazy butts off their hands and fix this in the browsers asap but who knows in another 17 years or so they might be up to it..

Hopefully the browsers will be fixed before you all work out a solution for it if decided to do so ofc.

It turns out there's actually a much much easier way to remove the special font effects from the visual editor. I'm not sure which page you're using to change your styles, but there's actually a section in the Colors & Styles editor - go to Pages > Editors > Visual Editor > Text. You can force the font weight to be normal and it'll remove the weird [b] errors without affecting any other part of your theme. You can even leave your default font settings as they are.

I completely forgot we had those settings.

I usually change things in the C&S section or the Adv. Styles and CSS section to try to get what I want, no idea what I'm doing really just going by trail and error since I have a very low knowledge level of these things lol

Hi guys, Love proboards it's the best! The problem I'm having at my site above, which has only started a few days ago is when I want to use any of the bold, underline, quotes or smiles it just goes straight to the very first line on the post, I've reset that section to default a few times now, but still continues to do as before.
Any ideas on how to correct.

this is a different problem then the above.  you will need to start a new thread with as much detail as you can give.
