recent posts page data request

when you get results from a search or hitting the "recent posts" link on the main page, when it returns the list of all those posts, could there be something added that also has which BOARD they are located in?  maybe by adding a class addition to the hidden checkbox or a hidden span in the timestamp or something?

I ask because some codes are board dependant, and you cant run plugins on the posts that are in the recent posts results that should have something applied to them since they dont have a board id associated with them.

When I ran this past the team they weren't very responsive to it. It didn't sound like something they could just flip a switch and have it working. And we don't have a lot of time to spare right now. I've added it to a list of future ideas to review and consider. We'll come back to it.

I'm getting requests for this as well. It really helps clarify the recent topics and what board they are in. wormopolis had written something in V4 that gave us the option to show the board that a thread was in as a column in the thread list.



You do have board id available on a thread list - however, that is just a number. What is needed is the board description in the template.

Just an update Wormo, we ended up adding this yesterday. Look for it probably early next week.

To the rest of you saying this is what your members want, what you all want is wormo's code he will make with what I said we added. None of you want what he actually asked for.

this feature request was more geared towards having a board association with each of the posts returned in the recent/search results. since some plugins are written to only work on certain boards, then all the posts in recent/search get bypassed because they arent associated.

this request was to have some sort of association to each of the post results. possibly by having a board-id in a classname or something so that a plugin can pick out any posts it needs to.


the recent/search THREADS results dont have a default board association either. you can add a board id in with the templates, but it affects ALL thread listings.


so it might be that it has to be done with template modification as well as a plugin, but if the default can be changed at all, its worth asking for it first.
