I was wondering about this could there be a payment option of getting a code install on a forum instead of requesting a plugin. I mean this is optional to you guys. It could work out well for you guys in the long run with more servers and stuff and it gives members the ability to pay for features that some forums can benefit from while others may not but its up to them to activate that type of feature. what do you think Ryan Roos? I mean I do see potential with this since we already need to pay to restore deleted category etc... why not expand it out a little more

A little unclear on this request. How does this differ from an existing free plugin?

A little unclear on this request. How does this differ from an existing free plugin? I think it's a simple case of you PAY for a plugin. Currently as it stands, other people (members) do them for you, if they can (be it are able, or if time permits etc) or want to. With what I assume that Nymph is requesting, it'd be a pay board and then you get put in a queue and you will without a doubt, get your plugin made, so long as it is possible. I think it's a good idea in all honesty. One question i have though is: Would it be an exclusive plugin, or would other people be allowed to buy it too? Or could it be: you pay X amount for it to be exclusive to you only, or a smaller amount for it to be able to be used by anyone (who buys it)? OR would it be a small fee, then it's up to the plugin creator to sell ?

We already have discussed plans for offering paid plugins, though not in the way suggested above.
We have considered letting the authors of the plugins register their plugins with ProBoards. When a plugin is sold the author and ProBoards would make money. This would allow plugins to be updated at the click of a button from the admin panel when new versions came out. There are other things we would offer the make them worth the money. However none of this is finalized and we want to get the free plugin library opened first. There is also a lot of legal stuff to work out when it comes to paying out authors, etc. So we aren't there yet. Registered authors could potentially have access you other things we are working on too, that would help them make plugins not possible now.
All that is still hypothetical though. So stay tuned.

The option for automatic (or one click at least) plugin updates from the ACP, is something I had hoped for before, but even as a paid option it too is still fantastic. No one can be bothered to keep checking, and heck, people just don't know when they need to check for a new release of a plugin.
