This plugin removes all instances of instant messengers and/or social websites from your forum.

Now you might be thinking, "you can just remove these from the layout template files." While this is true, this plugin offers a quick and easy ability to re-enable Instant Messengers/Social Websites in the case the forum administrator changes their mind.

I've added the ability to remove Social Websites.

Please update your plugin to version 1.1.0.

In the next release, you will be able to choose which specific social websites/instant messengers you would like to remove/keep.

I cannot wait for that!! Also, can there be options for how we want the labels to appear? Instead of Twitter, something else?

It would be great if you can also add the possibility to add labels.
I run a gaming forum and Xfire and Steam are the main social messengers to be used.
Also the option to make these fields obligated or not when a user is registering a new account on the forums.

I really like what this Plugin intends to do, namely remove the Social Media features from our forums which places anonymity as a high priority. Unfortunately, I'm not too fond of a recent bug I found. Unordered Lists randomly have line items disappear. It only affects text encapsulated by the"li" tags.

I figured out it was this plugin by disabling all plugins and then re enabling each one until the problem reoccurred.

Example:

• List item 1
• List item 2
• List item 3

will come out like this only with an odd spacing between 1 and 3:

• List item 1
• List item 3

whereas I can at least get the text to appear if I do this:

• List item 1
• 
  
• List item 3

which is actually:
[ul type="disc"]
[li]List item 1[/li]
[li][/li]List item 2

[li]List item 3[/li]
[/ul]

I was looking for a plug-in that would let me change the available Social Networking site options... either to modify the existing ones or add new ones. This plug-in was the closest thing I found. Any chance you would be interested in modifying this one to allow for that sort of thing?

Thanks to recent development on v5 this plugin is deprecated AFAICT which alleviates the issue I was having above and possibly paves the way for knowschad's request...

EDIT: This plugin still serves the purpose of removing the social media section from the profile area which my site does require. Still interested to see if the bug I found can be squashed or if there is a starightforward way to hide the profile tab.

Hello Aaron,

I was experiencing one of my categories missing from my navbar dropdown. CheatAreZee traced it to this plugin. When it was shut off the category was accessible via the navbar dropdown and when the plugin was re-activated it disappeared again

I looked further, and found that if one of either 'Remove Social Websites'
,  or Remove Instant Messengers was deactivated that the category was available in the navbar dropdown, but if both options are activated it was not.
