Thanks for experimenting, Michael. It seems we may have a problem. I know a very large number of people use Photobucket. When screenshots get posted here at Support, I often cannot see anything but a very small image. Photobucket has a odd way of uploading images, they have a max size of uploading, and when you surpass that, they re-size it. As imgur, and i think tinypic do not.. They re-size it to fit the "Visual" box for you to see it, but they do not re-size the image itself..

I wonder if there is a way around this, Thomje? I also wonder how Photobucket is instructed to resize the image to fit in the space allowed? This is bugging me, I don't like this kind of mystery, nor lack of control of my actions like this.
Oh wait, I reread your post, Thomje. Yes, Photobucket will resize your images, but in your Albums. Not what you post, at least not to my knowledge. I have a paid account and can use really large images. I would think the images posted here from Photobucket were the same size as what was in a person's album?

You posted quickly, Thomje, I was editing my post. I have a background that is 1900px wide and stored at Photobucket. I have had other things even larger stored there.
Ok, it's not Photobucket, it is IE9. I pasted a very large image at my test site. With IE9, no options, With FF, I could open it to see the actual size, with Chrome, I got the option for a tab to open it.
I normally use both FF and Chrome to check out my skins before I load them, but I prefer using IE. *JJ dodges all the rotten tomatoes thrown at her.* But this time, I was really surprised. IE9 loaded instantly and I could see the image. Couldn't do anything with it, but it was really quick. FF took awhile to load, like watching grass grow. Chrome was unbelievably slow. I had the busy wheel thing going for well over minute, maybe two.
Mystery solved.

Thank you, Thomje112, but I still think it is something built into the new system that didn't set compatibility with IE. I have seen a few polls in the past month or two and well over a third, almost a half in some cases, are still using IE. No matter how much some people hate it, IE is here, and needs to be brought into the equation.

... No matter how much some people hate it, IE is here, and needs to be brought into the equation. I have to agree with JJ. Although IE is dropping fast in popularity, it's still being used by some 234 million people world-wide.

Just wanted to jump in on this as I did some testing now with IE9, and it seems that if an image is just embedded on the page with no link, then the browser does not offer a method to load the image in a new tab or window like the others. I tested this on ProBoards as well as a couple other websites (such as Tumblr) with the same results. With the above said, however, we designed v5 with all modern browsers in mind; IE9 included. Some browsers do some things better than others and that's what makes them unique from one another; our developers try their best to make things as even as possible. I do recall the image resize code that was made available on v4 forums, though, so I will make a note with our developers to see if it's possible to make resized images clickable in all browsers so that a right-click option isn't depended on

Thank you so much, Ricky, that would be terrific! I'm a co-admin on a PaintShop Pro teaching site and we use a lot of screenshots for the students, some can be pretty large images.

Regarding Photobucket.....for the past couple of months they have been instituting a new site and many of the previous options are no longer available. They say that they are working on it but not all things are ready yet.
For example if there is a graphic that is over 1 MB they will automatically resize it to get it under 1 MB. It doesn't make any difference if you are a free user or a pro user. It really messes up things because doing this the credits are no longer readable and being a © compliant site, these itesm have to get deleted.
They are also automatically resizing large photos. I have been reading the complaints expecially from people who use the site to sell their itesm on e-Bay and other sites. They are furious.
When you post from Photobucket to proboards you don't have the options to resize.
You might look into ImageShack, which is a site that many of use have had to resort to. Fotki also resizes

Hi, Huronna. I currently have over 17,000 image in my Pro Photobucket account. The idea of moving them all makes me shudder. I have heard about the resizing issue, but so far, it doesn't seem to have affected me, and I have some quite large images stored there. I personally don't like the new Photobucket layout, I find it a poor substitute for the one they used to have. I hope they do make some improvements, but I've never seen them try very hard to keep the customers happy. Makes me wonder why I have stayed all these years.

images that were loaded in the old photobucket remain unchanged. It is only those that you try to load into the new system 17,000 is that all HA HA, been using PB since 2003 and i don't have enought time to count the nuber of albums maxed out at 2500 each LOL You sound as addicted as I am.
Try using image shack for the real biggies, it functions otherwise similar to PB

LOL, you're right, Thomje.
Thanks for the info, Huronna, I didn't know that about the old ones being ok. I'm going to be working on a new skin, I will take your advice under consideration.

27,765 .....I just had to count and then almost fell over. And that is only one paid account. I have two free ones for two of my other proboards sites and another paid one.
Have fun JJ, nice meeting you
