I went to the last thread here looking for an answer and worked my way forward and after twenty or so pages gave up, so here I am.
I know we have the option to resize member's posted graphics and photos on our sites with a setting, I have it clicked on my test site. It works great, keeps the site from getting stretched. But before V5, I had a code I used to do the resizing, worked great. But if a member wanted to see the full size, he or she could Click to Expand. Is that still possible? I have been to sites with these itty bitty images that I cannot see the original nor see all the elements and it is driving me nuts, especially when they are meant to be instructive screenshots, etc. Some seem to be clickable, some do not...
Is there a fix for this? Please?

When you add an attachment as a pic, the "Expand" should appear. Like this: Or as a regular attachment: Attachments:

Thank you for the reply, Thomje112, but I was not talking about attachments, I was talking about posting an image, like from Photobucket. The current system automatically resized it to fit the screen, but does not leave a prompt to click to open it and see the full sized image.

Sorry about that, you could always try Right clicking on the image, and clicking on "Open in New Tab" which should bring it full size.

Thank you, Thom, I didn't know about that option. I'll give it a try.

JJ I did see where we could uncheck that option and it has something about Scroll.

I saw that, Chrissy, you and I discussed that last fall. It puts a gray scroll bar on the image.

JJ this doesn't. I do not know why. One thing I figured out though and for anyone else wanting to do this is if you use Photobucket it will not let you enlarge the image but when I used one of the image uploaders, example Picoodle it would let me enlarge it so it may have something to do with Photobucket.

Thanks for experimenting, Chrissy. Maybe staff here will have some ideas.

So I did a quick test. I used imgur.
The photo uploaded, and was automatically sized to fit the maximum size that it could on the forum. Clicking did not enlarge it automatically. Right clicking and opening the image in a new tab showed the image at its true size.
Unless someone knows something I don't, this is the intended effect. Attachments should be the only images that automatically open up in a new tab at the max size, unless the link from the photo host includes something to cause the image to open inside the thread.

This is an interesting conundrum, Michael. When a very large Photobucket image is posted, it gets resized, but right clicking does NOT offer the option to open with a new tab. However, when pasting an image from Piccoodle, it also gets resized, but on hover, you get the little white hand and can click to enlarge. Now we know that with Imgur, clicking does not enlarge, you also do not get the little white hand, right? But you can right click and open in a new tab.
I am wondering if this is possibly a browser issue, I use IE9? Or, is it an issue with Photobucket?

PhotoBucket reszies it all together.

From some quick testing, I'm pretty sure that this is a the way that Photobucket works.

That's good to know, Thomje.
Thanks for experimenting, Michael.
It seems we may have a problem. I know a very large number of people use Photobucket. When screenshots get posted here at Support, I often cannot see anything but a very small image.
