I allow other proboards boards to advertise in specific spots on my board. I keep our ad posted with the right codes in that same spot so that I, and eventually my advertising mods once I find some, can easily pick up our ad to post it places. Which works fine if we're posting to a forum that has upgraded to version 5. I'm running into some difficulty though with posting ads on forums that haven't upgraded.
I've been using the code box to make our ad easily copy and paste able.
insert code here The problem is when I try to post the v4 ad it doesn't work well with the img tag. If I put the img url in the img tag within the code box it automatically switches it to the img code used in v5.
I'm not sure if I'm making sense, but I can try to explain further if needed. I'm pretty sure this was implemented to make things easier for people, but I think there should be some way around it. If there is and I just don't know about it, my apologies.

ProBoards v4 hates the v5 image tag because they weren't designed to play nice with each other. What your saying totally makes sense.
I would create a bug to fix this, but the vast majority of forums will be converted in just over a months time. I'll bring this up with the rest of the staff and see what we want to do.
Edit:
This was actually discussed around the office, but I just hadn't been privy to the information.
You can use
[quote][tt][/tt][/quote] To manipulate code as you please. For instance:
[quote][tt][im[b][/b]g]http://images.proboards.com/v5/stars/star.png[/im[b][/b]g][/tt][/quote] Using opening and closing bolding tags to break the [img] BBCode, so that its not recognized as BBCode. This forces it to be rendered as [img] instead of the v5 image tag.

Hi Pantalaimon, In a wonderful twist of fate one of the devs was working on codeboxes yesterday and the converted tag issue was brought up as a problem, and resolved. After the next code push you will no longer need to use my 'workaround'.
