I have seven themes & when adding extra smilies there is often a number auto added to the name (code) of the smilie on some themes. When I try to amend it so that it has the same name as on the other themes, I get an error pop up box with -"Error -Name must be unique within this category"
This has to be a bug as the same image on all themes must have the same "name" so that it displays the same no matter which theme a member is using.

Just because the name is different, does not cause a difference in how the smiley displays. The name of the smiley is not the name of the code.

Thank you for replying Michael. I'm most likely being really dumb but if the name of the smiley isn't the same on all themes, then a member using one theme & clicking on a smiley that has a different name on another theme, the smiley will only display to the members using that theme?
I most likely didn't explain what was happening very well. I can add the same smiley with the same name to several of my themes then suddenly when I try to add the same smiley with the same name to another theme, I get the error pop up.

It just arbitrarily stops letting you upload the smiley with the same name anymore? Could you link me to a place where this is happening so I can test it out and recreate the error?

Yes, Michael, that's exactly what happens. Sometimes when I delete & reload it, after several attempts, it accepts the name. In fact I've managed to sort most out that way. Others I've got round the problem by changing the default smilies to the ones I was going to add - no problem with the name being accepted when I do that. However, I've left one to try to show you what happens. I have the waving smiley on all my other themes named as *waving*, but no matter what I do on my blue theme I get the following error when I try to name it & it removes the *'s - With some of the other smilies I tried to add, it auto added a number at the end of the name - a different number on each theme Here is a link to my blue theme images page - the waving smiley is bottom row on the left - allaboute-cigarettes.proboards.com/admin/themes/8/settings#images-container-tab

So there is a bug here. If the default theme has a smiley with a name, you can't have that name on any other theme. Aside from that, I would just recommend naming the smiley something else, it should not affect what the user sees, regardless of theme. Update: We managed to fix this on your forum, it appears to have to do with the theme ID.

That's what the error message seems to be saying Michael. And I'm now even more confused as a while ago, I tried posting one of the other smilies that saved with a number auto added to the name on my pink theme & it just showed as the name, not the image on all the other themes. However, I've just done the same test with the waving smiley on the blue theme & that shows up OK on the default theme Lol, I'm so bad at explaining things, surprised that you have understood me - thank you for bearing with me

Oops crossed posts with you Michael - thank you so much Should I do something about changing my theme ids? The theme ID's comment was more of an explanation of what caused the bug, the fix itself is on our end. We will be making changes to ensure that this does not occur in the future.

Once again, thank you so much Michael. I know I don't post often here on the support board but that's mainly due to how excellent the info & help that is always given - ie I can usually find an answer to any problems I have The help & support here is second to non. Kudos to all the Admin, moderators, coders & forum helpers.
