Search widget will not pull account names or usernames

Okay, several of us have been having this problem for quite a long time now. When we are attempting to work with plugins in which allow you to find/use account name/username support such as "Dynamically Tabbed Table" and "Choose RPG Character" codes it will not fetch the user's information so that you can add them to the plugin.

This happens when you are attempting to add users which can modify plugins (Plugin>Build Option for plugins like the DTT linked above) or ones which are using the search widget to fetch the information so that you can key in the member's information (like the Choose RPG Character plugin.) There are many other plugins in which this is happening but these are the two that have having the most problem with it.

You cannot change the account id, but we have tried changing the username to something else and then seeing if it will find it; we have even attempted to change them multiple times but it yields no results. There have also been a few encounters by others that it may fetch some results, but it won't fetch certain users for what seems to be no real reason at all.

Is the problem more consistent for new(er) accounts? I'm not sure about the specifics of the plugin, but there is a known bug where new members are not being quickly indexed for search. This causes a lack of results when the search should have valid results. There is a whole new search script that is going to be put into place (hopefully) sometime this week that should clear this up.

For me, the problem happens to every member on my board (including admin) so they cannot be considered "newer" accounts at all. The site, and several, of these members have been around for almost three years now - while others have been around for a few months.


I am unsure if this is a problem that the others are having. I am hoping they can post their info in here as well.

I'm still having issues with this. Changing the display names, logging in and out again, re-installing the plugin never worked for me either.

Hi,

Are these issues ongoing (as in they were working, but aren't now)? There was an issue with search misbehaving last night/this morning. Our sysadmin is currently working on fixing this.

It is also worth mentioning that BetaZone forums get code-updates behind live v5 forums, so some recent updates may have not hit BetaZone forums yet!

They've always failed to work for me, personally, but I know that others have had an easier time with it. It must just be waiting for the update to hit. Thank you, Michael!
