Greetings,
You may place ask ad as long as the forum is ad free, however you should indicate that the ad is not associated with ProBoards. I can't remember the standard banner ad size off the top ox my head, and can't measure it on my phone, but a quick google search our someone on this forum should be able to give you those numbers.

If your ad is just an image, you can add the following code to your Global Header.
Replace the text in red with the appropriate page and image URL.

Hi paulam, If you're wanting the banner you want to use to be the same size as the ads were on your forum, the size you would want to use is 728x90

thanks so much. So I could have my own ad 728 x 100 if I wanted? Or is it a fixed space at 90 pixels?

You can have it at any size you want to make it, there aren't any rules against that. If you use a larger size, it'll appear in the larger size without needing to do anything to make it look right on the forum. But traditional leaderboard style ads like the one here on Support are the size I provided in the post above
