1) The URL to the page you are on when the bug occurred.takeonestepatatime.proboards.com/post/338888takeonestepatatime.proboards.com/post/338856
2) What happened, in detail? This was reported by one or our members & when I investigated found that it only seems to happen when posting directly from the Visual text entry box. A tilde key entry is converted to a colon when posting. I tested this on the following browsers using Vista Home Premium: 3) What do you think should have happened instead? The tilde should post as a tilde. 4) Can you reproduce this on every pageview?Only when posting from the Visual box, or if I have toggled back and forth between BBCode & Visual and back again. And only in Chrome & Firefox. 5) What browser, version, and operating system are you using? Our member who reported it:
Me with Windows Vista Home Premium:
- Chrome 25.0.1364.152m
- FireFox 19.0.2
- Internet Explorer 9.0.8112.16421 (works properly on IE 9)
6) Please attach a screen shot (JPG or PNG -- not GIF or BMP) if it is relevant

Hi earlene, I first tested this on my own testing forum, and was unable to reproduce. I then went and visited your forum, and was able to reproduce without a problem. After some poking around, I disabled your plugins and tried posting again. The tilde appeared as it should. One of your plugins is causing the tilde to be converted for some reason. I would recommend disabling all of your plugins, and re-enabling them one-by-one until you find the culprit, and then let the relevant plugin creator know.

I have copied your response to our expert coding admin. Once the culprit is identified, would you like to know which plug-in is the cause, in case this comes up for others?

Hi earlene, Of course! Just drop the name of the plugin in this thread and I'll make a mental note in case someone else posts about it.

Just drop the name of the plugin in this thread and I'll make a mental note in case someone else posts about it. We found the plug-in that caused this anomaly is our Smile Dropdown by Todge. But we've decided the Smilie Dropdown is more important than that one character (tilde). Besides in the process we discovered a work-around. The error only occurs when typing the tilde using the Visual editor, not the BBCode editor, so when doing a string of tildes without text, we will advise people to use the BBCode editor. For the most part, it's not going to be an issue, we don't think. It doesn't happen when the tilde is used within the context of text, only when at the beginning of a line without text.
