At first I thought this might have been only on my site...but it's not working for me on here either...so while Proboards might already know about it, I thought I would pop in with it anyways.
The buttons on the posting page...on this very page that I am typing in right now...do not work. For example, while in BBCode view if I click on the "B" button to bold something...nothing happens. It does not insert the code. However, in the Visual tab if I highlight something and then click the button it will bold it. So for some reason the buttons are working in Visual only.
On the case that this might be a cross browser problem...I have tested it on FireFox and Google Chrome and its the same result. I don't even bother testing things on Internet Explorer anymore because...yeah.

Hi Ty, This must be new, I use BBCode instead of Visual myself, and haven't noticed this before today. Thanks for bringing this to my attention, I'll get a developer on this right away.

Yea I think it must have just recently happened since it was working fine yesterday I believe. Thanks for letting me know and getting on it so quickly...since it seems to be working now.

heh Are my Bolding Issues spreading? The bold button works for me here in visual though but not on our board, Ty have you tried a diffrent theme and see if the B button works as it should then? Not been able to re-create our theme yet so can't say for sure but that seems to be the only way for us to fix it..

The link button is still a bit squirrely. Select some text, then click the link button. The selected text shows up in the URL portion of the window, and the word, "link" shows in the upper text box.

Example: This may be the way that this was intended to work, so that you could paste your link in the reply box, and then highlight to add your linktext. I'll inquire about this today and get a solid answer for you on this, and if this is not the intended function I'll make a bug to correct it.

The problem is that the link text is showing up in the "URL" box. It should be in the upper "Text" box. The URL gets pasted into the lower box. In other words, they are reversed.

This is the way this was intended to work. This way, you can post a link in the reply box normally and keep writing your message, then if you decide that the link should have proper linktext so that it doesn't stand out as much, you can highlight it and it will be automatically copied into the URL field.
We considered the opposite implementation, but since there are other places on the forum that work in the same manner, we decided it was best to remain consistent with URL/link population.

This just seems counter-intuitive to me, the majority of cases in my experience would be text that is highlighted not a preexisting URL, this looks to be a step backwards from what it was before. It would be just as easy to detect that minority case of a highlighted URL and flip the field values would it not?

Michael That's not the way it used to work. You would select your text, click on the Link button, paste your URL in the URL textbox, click the Create Link button, and the selected text would be turned into an html anchor. You do it now and you get your URL pasted into the message. It changed, and it no longer works... I'm certain of that.

Allow me to post some pictures to make myself clearer: 1) Original text 2) Select the words "a test" 3) The way the Create Link window looks when first opened 4) URL pasted into the "URL:" textbox 5) Result: the word "link" (text from the "Text:" box) gets pasted in where "a test" used to be. OK, so maybe I was supposed to paste my URL in the upper box instead, since my selected text, "a test" is showing in the "URL:" textbox. Let's give that a try. 6) URL pasted into the upper textbox 7) Nope... that didn't work, either. Now my URL is pasted into the message directly.

This is how it is intended to work. You can change the text in the Text field to whatever you wish.
The intention is that you are pasting your link into the reply field and are highlighting that and hitting the link button, and then inserting whatever text you wish into the Text field.
I'll inquire as to making this URL sensitive and flipping the values, but we designed other functions to work in the same manner for consistency.

OK, but I'm quite certain that it changed only recently. I have pasted a lot of links before, and suddenly, a few days ago, it stopped working for me. I dunno... maybe I changed what I did, and haven't realized it, but I sure don't think that's the case.
The way I believe it used to work (using my example above) is that I would highlight the text of the anchor ("a test"), hit the Link button, and "a test" would show up in the "Text:" field. I would then paste my URL into the "URL:" field. It worked beautifully. Other people on my forum reported problems on the same day that I noticed this myself.
