Can we ask why you want to downgrade? While it isn't possible to go back to the old software, almost anything in V4 can be done in V5.

Hello, headers and footers should no longer be used, they have been replaced with the plugins system. Header/Footer codes for v4 forum no longer work, however we have many replacements int he Plugin Database, and more coming. |

While we highly encourage the use of plugins as an alternative to header and footer codes, that doesn't negate their usability altogether. You can still use your headers & footers as you please if you prefer that method.
Codes from V4 will no longer work due to the drastic layout changes that were made to PB's HTML. Your old headers and footers are still available to review by visiting your admin area and going to Structure > Headers & Footers, selecting one of the available categories, then clicking on View Pre-Upgrade Header & Footer on the top right.
