For the past year my Proboards forum has been floating in cyberspace and with the introduction of v5 I decided to bring it back. I did what I had to do to update it, sent out a mass email telling everyone what was happening. Waited. Sent another mass email. Waited some more.
This morning I discovered that v5 automatically defaults the question "Do you want to receive email sent to all forum members by staff?" to NO. So that means every member has that set to No even if they don't want it to be.
Decided that I needed to go through each profile and change it to yes and then send out another email - but admins can't do that. Nor can I send an ordinary email to them all - because we can no longer see email addresses.
Got a feeling lots of admins will have been affected by this without realising it. Please can someone tell me how the devil I can get in touch with members to tell them what is happening?

Hi,
This is a known bug at the moment and should be fixed over the course of the week.

Thanks Brian - does that mean that admins should be able to reset the default to Yes - at least until members have the chance to choose otherwise?

We should be able to correct everything to change the value to how it was before the bug started.

Brian I've just seen on another thread that you've said mass emails are working again - but if the default to the "Do you want to receive email sent to all forum members by staff?" is still set at NO then members who haven't been on the site since the upgrade still aren't going to get them surely? Or has that default setting been changed now perhaps?

OK I've been good and waited 24 hours before upping. I see there are a few threads on the go about emails now. PLEASE can a member of staff tell me - when the problems are sorted, will the default about members receiving staff emails be set at Yes or No?
Brian said "We should be able to correct everything to change the value to how it was before the bug started." - but I don't know what that value was. Basically if I'm left with a forum where all the members boxes are set not to receive emails, it means I can't contact them to tell them that we are up and running again and all the work I've done over the past few weeks is useless.

Ahhhhh - thank heavens for that - thank you Brian. Will it be posted somewhere when the problem has been sorted?

Mass emails should be working again as of a couple hours ago.
