Currently our members can only bookmark threads & not boards themselves (or am I missing something?)
So, for example, I have a board announcing tour dates & then sub boards for years & threads in those boards for each tour date (& related stuff). Thing is, if you can only bookmark a thread, then you only get updates to that thread (which you already now about). If it's possible to bookmark the actual board itself, then notifications of new threads appearing would be much more useful in this respect. Of course users would need to opt in themselves, but that's logical. Many of my members have asked if this is possible. Thanks

s This is what new/no new is for on the main page, to show people when a board has new posts in it.

Thanks for the reply. I did try that & it's only returning a summary of new posts in any threads participated in. Still a handy tool. Effectively, that's what bookmarking a thread & setting notifications does though. I am looking for an option to bookmark boards so that new threads are notified. eg. I know that band "X" is playing dates "A,B,C & D" & all the details about tickets, attendees etc. As these are threads on the board "2013 tour". But I would like to know if dates "E, F & G" have been added to the tour. These would be new threads in a bookmarked board & not new posts to a bookmarked thread. You see what I'm getting at?

We understand your request. However in most situations allowing a person to bookmark an entire board would put a strain on our servers. On many forums there are threads being made every minute. Multiply that times all the people that turn on board notifications and it quickly gets out of hand.
At some point in the future we will be improving the notification system to be even better than it is now. At that time we will revisit this idea.
Thank you.
