I would like the feed to be centered and fade in, fade out.. anything but the way it crawls across now..

In one of our v5.x updates, after launch, we will be adding more options to the news feed for transition effects.

In the mean time you might want to see if there is a plugin that could do what you want for now. Go make a request in the plugin board.
