Daylight Savings Time?

My ability to change my time to 'currently observing DST (Daylight Savings Time) seems to have disappeard from my profile. Post at the convertied V5 sites are not showing my current time. Will this be restored?

I asked about this the other night and I was told that when you have daylight savings, that if your computer clock automatically changes, then the time on your site will too. It was Brian who confirmed that for me the other night. If your computer doesn't change automatically then I'm unsure as to how it will work for you.

Thanks, Mands, I'm not showing the correct time on some V5 sites I visit. My computer has changed time, but some sites have not. It's rather frustrating to be posting before someone who posted supposedly before me.

RedsSetBat. I did as you suggested in Private Browsing, and the function is not there, unless it's been moved, and I looked all over my Profile. I am using IE9, Windows 7.

Is there another place we are supposed to go to select our time zone?



Mands, do you remember where you saw this discussed before?  I'd like to see Brian's comments. Maybe I'm missing something. I tried to go back and do a screenshot where I was having the issue but I can't remember which site it was.

Apologies, I meant view the page with the incorrect timestamps in a private browsing window to see if the timestamps fixed themselves.

(Mands is correct that there is no timezone or DST setting in profiles anymore.)

Ah, that's ok, RedsSetBat. At least by checking I confirmed to myself I wasn't crazy, the setting is still there on my old Proboards, just not on the new one. I live in a part of the US that has had a lot of ongoing battles over people living in the same time zone but not wanting to participate in Daylight Savings Time. It had to be handled by legislative acts, etc. I think most of the counties are in compliance now, but some were allowed to opt out. As I posted, I tried to recreate the situation to get a screenshot but couldn't track it down.

I'm glad I asked, though, because a lot of my members will be wondering where that setting has gone to, we live all over the world.

And yeah, I was lucky enough with the help of some very kind fans on the fan club to buy a Meet & Greet pass and got to meet him at the concert in Glasgow, Scotland. I just adore him.

ProBoards doesn't implement DST anymore. If your browser does, then the forum should. If not, then it shouldn't.

Also just wanted to note that the only time the forum will not display the time based on your computer clock is if you have javascript disabled in your web browser, or if javascript is not functioning properly in your web browser. When this happens, you will be displayed the default forum time set for the forum instead, which can be determined by a forum staff member by visiting the settings area of the admin panel of the v5 forum. If you are being displayed a time from the forum because of javascript issues, this will often appear in a format such as "Mar 27, 2013 13:51:02 GMT -8"
